Dear Students,

You have made one of the most important decisions in your life. You have decided to work with others to change the world while acquiring your high school qualifications.

Deciding to attend Nancy Campbell Academy means that you are willing and eager to contribute your talents and capabilities for the betterment of your own lives and that of the world.

This may seem dramatic, but the goals that we set for ourselves in the years prior to university affect our core development for life.

As you know, at the heart of a Nancy Campbell Academy education is learning to be of service to each other, our family and our community. Service is the arena in which the pursuit of one’s own intellectual and moral growth is harmonized with one’s efforts to contribute to society.  It helps us realize strengths we never knew we possessed and also helps us to build capacity both academically and practically to overcome great challenges.

Each year we strive to provide more service to others and inspire more hearts than ever before.  We know that you will make friends with new people who will remain a significant part of your life both now and in the future.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to your school and residence at our Stratford campus. This is where you will always be welcome. It is your school.

We know that you have been careful in selecting this educational experience and are willing to work with us to build an unforgettable 2025/2026 school year.

We invite you and your parents to the Principal's BBQ on August 29th, 2025 at 12:30 pm at 45 Waterloo Street South, here in Stratford.

Warmest wishes,

Gordon Naylor

Principal

They help you get to school on time, check in on your academics, organize weekend activities, and encourage your emotional and spiritual well-being.

From shared meals to group games and thoughtful conversations, the RAs and fellow students make daily life in residence connected and meaningful.

Bring comfort. Bring what matters. Bring yourself.

Section 4: Your Peer Mentor

Wondering who you’ll be studying with this fall?

You’ll get to meet one of your classmates before school even starts!

What Does a Peer Mentor Do?

Your mentor will:

  • Reach out before you arrive (by email or video call)
  • Answer your questions about school life, dorms, or what to pack
  • Meet you during Orientation Week
  • Stay in touch throughout the first term to check in and encourage you

Why It Matters

Starting a new school (especially in a new country or culture) takes courage.

Our Peer Mentor Program builds friendship, connection, and confidence right from the start.

Most students say it was one of the most helpful parts of their transition.

What You Need to Do

  • Watch for an email from your Peer Mentor
  • Feel free to ask them anything, they’re here for you
  • Let us know if you don’t hear from them by August 10th

Have a questions or need help connecting with your mentor, contact:

Ms. Schaefer at: kschaefer@nancycampbell.ca

Section 5: Academic & Moral Readiness

At NCA, we believe that true education includes both mind and character.

Your readiness isn’t measured just by grades, but by your willingness to learn, to grow, and to live with purpose.

Orientation and Support

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

In your first week, you’ll take part in:

  • An academic orientation: how classes work, how to stay organized, where to find support
  • A moral capabilities workshop: understanding NCA’s culture and how we grow together

You’ll also have access to regular check-ins with staff, mentors, and dorm parents.

Section 6: Winter in Stratford

Recommended Winter Clothing:

  •  Winter jacket (rated for –20°C)
  •  Scarf, mittens or gloves
  •  Warm hat (called a toque in Canada)
  •  Winter boots (insulated for –20°C)
  •  Long underwear (also called long johns) — great under layer on very cold days

In addition to your NCA uniforms, you’ll need clothes for all kinds of weather.

Stratford winters can reach –20°C, so warm layers are important, not just for comfort, but for enjoying the season!

Staying warm helps you enjoy the snow, the walks to school, and outdoor fun with friends.

There will be chances to shop for winter gear once you arrive.

Section 7: Reminders

ALL STUDENTS :

Please bring the following:

  • Passports and Birth Certificates for travel
  • Your Health Card (if you are a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Favourite games
  • Books/novels
  • Instruments you play
  • Stationary (Notebooks, Journals)

International Student Health Insurance

Canada is famous for excellent health care for citizens and permanent residents. However, international students should have emergency medical insurance while in Canada.

Insurance purchased through Nancy Campbell Academy covers the student from the day the residence opens through the day the residence closes, for both the fall and winter semesters.

If you require additional coverage (for example over the winter break), please contact Ms. Cindy Wang-Vandendool.

In most cases, you must first pay for doctor visits, prescriptions and medical services, then submit your claim forms for reimbursement.

We can assist you with the reimbursement process as needed.
